  1. ---- How and why should I register MicroCook?
  2.  
  3.      If you like MicroCook and plan to use it past the 30 days
  4. evaluation period, you must register it. Registering MicroCook
  5. (or any other Shareware) is the only way you can legally use the
  6. program past this evaluation period.
  7.  
  8.      Registered users of the MicroCook database program will
  9. receive at least one (1) free upgrade during the first year after 
  10. registration, and unlimited technical support. Users that have
  11. questions during the evaluation period can contact me by mail, or
  12. on GEnie (TM) (GE Information Services) or CompuServe (TM). And
  13. of course, registered users can also make use of these contacts.

  15.      If you should see a newer version of MicroCook on any
  16. computer bulletin board, this version will also work with your
  17. KEY file. 
  18.      
  19.      When you register you will receive a small "key file" with
  20. the serial number and your name. Place this file in the SAME
  21. directory as MCOOK.EXE. Please keep a copy of the Key file in a
  22. safe place. This file is for YOU only, and must NOT be
  23. distributed with any copies you give to your friends or upload to
  24. BBS's (which you are encouraged to do). The Key disables all the
  25. "Please Register!" messages and the time delayed opening and 
  26. exit screens so the program will start running without delay. I
  27. added these "features" as reminders to unregistered users, not to
  28. harass them. The unregistered version and the registered version
  29. are identical in functions, except for these messages. 
  30.      If your KEY file gets lost or damaged, send me a letter with
  31. an approximate date when you registered, and a check for $5.00
  32. for handle shipping & handling. I'll then mail you a disk back a
  33. copy of the KEY file.

  35.      Registered users will also receive an ASCII Editor for 
  36. editing of ASCII recipe files in formats other than MicroCook's. 
  37. This editor is NOT to be given away, uploaded to bulletin boards 
  38. (BBS), or distributed in any way. Also included with the
  39. registered copy of MicroCook are over 2,200 recipes, ready to be
  40. loaded into MicroCook. And just incase your hard disk mess up
  41. your recipe database, I have written a small program that will
  42. extract as many recipes as possible from the damaged MicroCook
  43. recipe database, and save them to a new database. So, MCDBFIX.EXE
  44. is another utility just for the registered user.

  46.      If you have a lot of recipes in formats other than
  47. Meal-Master, MasterCook, or Edna's Cookbook that you would like
  48. to convert to MicroCook, please send an e-mail, call or write. I
  49. plan to add more conversions in the next version of MicroCook so
  50. I would like to learn more about the different PC cookbook
  51. formats that are in use.

  53.      To register by mail, print out and fill out the REGISTER.FRM
  54. file. CompuServe users can also register through Software
  55. Registration (GO SWREG), see SWREG.TXT for details. And if your
  56. choice is credit card, see the CREDIT.TXT file. All these files
  57. can be viewed from the "Register MicroCook" menu. The necessary
  58. forms can also be printed from there.
